ABOUT
Doris Izquierdo was born and raised in Mexico City. She has worked in the accessories industry for the past 8+ years in Mexico City, Florence, New York City and Providence.
In 2011 upon completing her Industrial Design degree from Mexico City and Australia, she started planning DOIZPE with her sister. At the same time, she worked in multiple projects creating upcycled accessories for women and men in Mexico City. She moved to New York in 2012 where she learned more about the fashion industry collaborating with the renowned fashion designer Rolando Santana and at the Milk Studios. Simultaneously, she started creating handbags with embroidery and embellishment craftsmanship made by artisans in Mexico.
In 2014 Doris moved to Florence, Italy to collaborate at Idee Partners, where luxury accessories are made with the Made in Italy essence. Once she was back in Mexico City in 2015, she was selected at Who's On Next Vogue Mexico as one of the most talented designers of the country and right after is when she started working with Taller Maya and different techniques made by artisan women like; woven palm leaves appliques on DOIZPE bags.
Later on, when she was living in Providence, RI in 2017 she would ride her vespa everyday to work, which at the moment was Coach and Swarovski. She increased her knowledge about accessories working with jewellery and learning about accessories sales at Coach. At the same time that she was selected as a finalist by Abury Design Experience in Berlin for her socially responsible accessories made at DOIZPE.
Nowadays, she lives in Brooklyn. She expands her creativity and knowledge on accessories everyday at Dagne Dover. She loves riding her Peugeot bicycle, train for marathons at Prospect Park and eat croissants Friday mornings.
